PICKENS COUNTY — Clemson police have apprehended two Pickens County men in connection with a string of thefts.

Police said 24-year-old Todd Wayne Finklea of Central and 24-year-old Chadwick Marion Abercrombie of Pickens, were arrested on charges including grand larceny.

Clemson police say they made a break in the case, in which multiple stolen vehicles have been reported, Thursday morning when Abercrombie turned himself in.

Finklea was apprehended on Friday afternoon in the Easley area, according to police. He will face additional charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance after drugs were found in his possession at the time of the arrest.

Clemson Police Chief Jimmy Dixon said Finkela was trying to make arrangements to leave the area and avoid arrest.

Abercrombie is charged with grand larceny greater than $10,000. Abercrombie could face more than 10 years in prison, according to police.

Pickens County Sheriff’s Office officials helped with the investigation, according to Clemson Police.

According to authorities, 23 mopeds, four vehicles, six motorcycles and five stolen utility trailers have been reported stolen.

Dixon said local residents should keep locking devices on their bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles. The police chief said these items should be kept in well-lit areas to deter more thefts.

Police are continuing to investigate.
