The 2nd annual Upstate Stand Down for homeless veterans, veterans at risk for homelessness, all veterans in need and their families will be held on October 17, 2013 at the Restoration Church Expo Center, 6655 Pottery Road, Spartanburg, SC , 9:00am-4:00pm. Allveterans in need in the 11 county catchment area of the Upstate are invited to attend and bring family members as well.
Upstate Stand Down is a project of Operation Restoration CDC, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, located in the Beaumont area of Spartanburg.
The mission of Upstate Stand Down is to begin the process of rehabilitation and recovery by providing multiple services in one location, in an atmosphere of familiarity and trust. Veterans in need, as defined by each veteran, along with family members will be offered a vast array of services, items and goods, and most importantly, hope for a new beginning and improved quality of life. Offered on this extraordinary day will be medical screenings, employment opportunities, VA benefits, housing opportunities, haircuts, limited dental services, clothing, showers, toiletry kits, hot meals, counseling and agency services and more.
Walk-ins are welcome, however, veteran participants are encouraged to pre-register on the Upstate Stand Down website at www.upstatestanddown.org
