A man has been charged with aggravated battery after attacking a man Tuesday.

According to Troup County sheriff’s investigators, Joseph L. Sellers, 31, of LaGrange, attacked a middle aged man without justification.

During the attack, Sellers allegedly “pushed and shoved the man to the ground and proceeded to choke the man to a near point of unconsciousness,” said Captain Mike Caldwell.

The victim sustained a broken arm in the attack and was taken to West Georgia Medical Center to be treated.

Sellers is believed to be the nephew of the victim, said Caldwell, but it could not be confirmed this morning.

Sellers is being held at the Troup County Jail on $11,000 bond.
