Spring art classes planned at the Pickens County Museum

PICKENS – April 2 is the deadline to register for Spring Studio Art Sessions for children and adults at the Pickens County Museum of Art & History.

Renee Gillespie will teach Children’s Studio Art for ages 8 to 12 on April 1, April 8, April 15, April 29, May 6 and May 13 and Children’s Studio Art for ages 13 to 16 on April 2, April 9, April 16, April 30, May 7 and May. All classes will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on their designated days.

During this six-week course, youth will be encouraged to develop and refine their art skills and creativity while they learn to draw and paint from still life, nature and photographs. Art supplies are included in tuition fee. Class size is limited.

Jo Johnston will teach Let’s Sketch Spring! Sketching from Nature Part 1 on April 8, April 15, April 22, April 29, May 6 and May 13 and From Sketchbook to Painting: Working in a Series on April 3, April 10, April 17, April 24, May 1 and May 8. All classes will be from 10 a.m. to noon.

In Sketching from Nature Part 1, students will work with pencil, pen, and watercolor to fill a sketchbook with interesting subjects found in nature. A supplies list will be furnished and explained at the first class.

From Sketchbook to Painting will feature reviews from the first series of classes as well as introduce the concept of working in a series for creative expression. Students will choose from a range of subjects to add to their sketchbooks and practice with a selection of media. Some new supplies may be suggested as the class progresses. Participation in a previous Sketchbook Series Class is required.

Tuition for each class is $78 for museum members and $88 for non-members and is due before the start of class.
