PICKENS COUNTY — One new restaurant has already opened in Pickens County — Moe’s Southwestern Grill had its grand opening last week — and Zaxby’s has chosen Pickens County to be the location for the company’s new prototype restaurant, with new stores opening in both Pickens and Easley.
The Zaxby’s Easley location on S.C. 123 is slated to be torn down some time in November to reveal the fast food joint’s new rustic red barn style exterior. The store will be rebuilt in the new style at the same location.
J.J. DeRoy, Zaxby’s corporate director of market development, said a location also will be built in Pickens in front of the Walmart on Gentry Memorial Highway. Plans are to have the Pickens location open around Labor Day 2015.
The new location in Easley will feature two entrances and two drive through lanes. Both locations will be outfitted with updated kitchens and seating areas.
DeRoy also said there are plans to open a Zaxby’s in Oconee County. Locations are currently being scouted, but a final decision has not been made.
Moe’s Southwest Grill celebrated its grand opening with a “Pay What You Want Day” where patrons could donate any amount of money for their meal. All of the proceeds benefited The Parenting Place, an Upstate organization dedicated to serving parents and preventing child abuse.
“By supporting The Parenting Place, we hope they can continue to make a difference in the lives of the many families of Easley that depend on their services every day,” said franchise partner Steve Smith.
