The Keowee Marina Poker Run benefiting Our Daily Rest is held July 26 at Keowee Marina, 150 Keowee Marina Drive in Seneca. Registration begins at 10 a.m., hands will be opened from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the awards dinner will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Prizes will range from $500 for best hand to $100 for the worst hand. Early registration is $50 per boat at Keowee Marina or by visiting www.keoweemarina.com for a registration form. Boat registration the day of the event is $65.


The Collins Home hosts its 31st annual Chicken Barbecue from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 13 at Northside Elementary School. Plates are $10 each and can be bought by calling 864-882-0893. Plates will include barbecued chicken, baked beans, slaw, potato chips, roll, pickles, tea or lemonade and cookies. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
