PICKENS – An inmate who escaped early Monday morning from a work detail was recaptured about a mile from where he fled, according to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.
Kyle William Howes, 35, faces an additional charge of escape in the incident. He was arrested on Sunset Drive in Pickens County after the Sheriff’s Office received reports of a suspicious person near a residence just after 11 a.m. He managed to get away from a litter crew working in the area of Old Stagecoach Road in Pickens around 9:30 a.m.
He was still wearing the same clothes he had on when he escaped. He was taken into custody without incident.
Howes was serving a 90-day sentence for possession of drug paraphernalia, false information to police and false identification.
