WALHALLA – A Fair Play man was arrested and charged March 15 on petit larceny charges after the Oconee County Sheriff’s Department determined he was the person who picked up a bank envelope full of cash after it was dropped at a convenience store last month.

Daniel Neil Alexander, 46, of 284 W. Pine Grove Road, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on March 15. He was released from the Detention Center on a $2,130 surety bond.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release on Feb. 14 asking for the public’s help after a woman reported she had dropped an envelope containing $500 at Countryside Exxon in the Tokeena Crossroad Community.

The complainant told authorities that she went back into the store when she realized she had dropped the envelope but it was gone.
