Municipal elections set for Tuesday

PICKENS COUNTY – Several races in Pickens County will be decided at the polls Tuesday.


Candidates vying for seats will know their fate tomorrow as local residents will have most of the day to cast their votes.


According to Rodney Allen with the Pickens County Elections Commission, the following offices and candidates will appear on the ballots on Nov. 5. Candidates listed are competing for one seat unless otherwise noted:

**Lavant Padgett has withdrawn from the above Mayoral race; however, because ballots for the election have already been prepared, his name will remain on the printed ballots. Votes for him will not be counted. Paper ballots will have his name stricken out. Voting Machines will NOT display his name.

All voters will be asked to show one of the following Photo IDs at your polling place Tuesday:


S.C. Driver’s License


ID Card issued by S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles


S.C. Voter Registration Card with Photo


Federal Military ID (includes VA Benefits Card)


U.S. Passport


If you can’t get a photo ID, bring your non-photo voter registration card with you to the polls. You will be allowed to vote after signing an affidavit stating you have a reasonable impediment to obtaining photo ID. The reasonable impediment could be a religious objection to being photographed, a disability or illness, your work schedule, lack of transportation or any other obstacle you find reasonable.


If you forget your ID, you may vote a provisional ballot that will not count unless you show Photo ID to the county election commission prior to certification of the election.
