It takes time and effort.
For most Americans those are two requirements above and beyond what they are willing to give and/or do. This certainly isn’t everyone, there are truly exceptions to every rule, but generally speaking, if Americans can’t just throw money at a problem it isn’t worth dealing with, or if it is, let someone else do it.
There is an entire generation of children who have grown up on welfare, the government dole, whatever you want to call it. And now, a major portion of that generation is bringing up a second generation under the same conditions. This is everyone’s problem to deal with whether they find it agreeable or not.
The societal issues spawned by this trend include addiction, crime, overcrowded jails, homelessness, domestic and child abuse, a drain on infrastructure and resources, and on and on. It’s a fact the socioeconomic influences in a child’s life will be a major determining factor in how that child’s life plays out. By allowing this trend to continue the fabric of the society of this nation and its future economic growth and stability won’t be in jeopardy, they’ll be circling the drain if not already flushed away.
People enjoy the opportunity to complain about the issues above, but it’s only a very few that step up and put forth of themselves for the betterment of the community.
What do they do?
Volunteer, mentor, participate, ask questions, demand answers, offer ideas, and most of all, they care. All of the options in the previous sentence may be performed without empathy but caring, that is composed of nothing but empathy.
You will see, either here or associated with some sort of media, after reading this, stories which may be horrific, scary, or disturbing, and the majority of them will have one thing in common. That one commonality is there is the possibility they could have been prevented.
In essence, many of the ills we face today could have been nothing more the shady remembrances of a nightmare upon waking instead of a stark reality almost out of control. The cycle has to be broken and money isn’t the answer.
