PICKENS — BI-LO grocery stores in the greater Greenville area donated more than $5,000 in supplies to support Concrete Primary School in Anderson County and Gettys Middle School in Pickens County.

The schools were chosen as recipients because of the significant need of supplies and tremendous impact the donation would make, as education across the nation experiences budget cuts.

“Many of our associates have children, so we understand the constant need in schools to provide supplies,” said Randy Ellison, district director for BI-LO’s Greenville West District. “This was a simple way for us to help students in the area and give them the opportunity to learn and grow.”

Twelve BI-LO stores bought $5,000 in school supplies for the Anderson and Pickens County schools, including notebooks, pencils, calculators, markers and other resources needed for children to succeed in the classroom.

A majority of the supplies were given to Gettys Middle School, which serves twice as many students as most middle schools in the area.
