EASLEY — Gary Mohr has been selected to serve as Interim Principal at McKissick Elementary in the 2013-2014 school year.
“Mohr has served as assistant principal at McKissick Elementary for seven years, and I know he is excited about the chance to lead the school,” said Dr. Kelly Pew, superintendent. “We believe he can build on McKissick’s successes, and ensure that each child has the opportunity to reach his or her full potential. He knows the McKissick community and staff, and I believe he will have a positive impact on the school.”
Mohr holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Clemson University, as well as an Education Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from Clemson.
He began his career in education as a math teacher at Riverside Middle School in 1996, and was eventually named Site Administrator at Riverside from 2005-2006. He began working at McKissick in 2006.
“I’m looking forward to opportunity to lead as principal. We have a good faculty and staff in place, and I know that everyone will accept the challenge to do what is best for our students and to work together with our parents,” Mohr said.
Mohr will replace Dr. Del Freitag, who served as principal at McKissick for one year. Freitag will continue to work in the district as a classroom teacher.
“We appreciate Dr. Freitag’s support of the district and his genuine love of children, and we look forward to his continued work in the classroom,” Pew said.
