Sometimes you don’t realize just what you have until you need it. Who would think you’d require the services of the Pickens EMS at 3AM on a Sunday morning, but sure enough, there I was, gasping for air like a fish out of water and a wife unable to drive because of a foot operation of her own. A 911 call and the EMS was here within 15 minutes, loading me up with wires and tubes and helping my wife into the ambulance so she could go along. I don’t know the names of the man and woman who arrived, but they had to be some of the most professional, while still pleasant and courteous paramedics around. Within minutes they were wheeling me, and my wife, into the emergency room at St. Francis. While there I had several remarks about the great job that was done inserting the catheter (which served me the entire time there) into my arm. I think all of us in Pickens County can be thankful we have such an efficient and professional EMS, I know I do. Hopefully you never require them as I did, but if you do, you’ll be glad they’re there.
