CENTRAL — Southern Wesleyan University student-athletes were recently celebrated by the Foothills FCA in Clemson at Cross Point Church.

Freshman baseball player Justin Brew and junior volleyball player Tori Wanner were honored for their service and ministry not only on, but off the court as well. Both student-athletes received the Heart of a Champion award which is given to student-athletes from all participating schools in the FCA chapter.

Brew has made an impact on SWU’s campus since he arrived in August. In addition to leading the baseball team’s Bible Study and being a member of the leadership team of SWU’s FCA program, he also spoke in chapel during the fall semester, just weeks after showing up on campus.

Wanner has been instrumental in leading the volleyball team in here time on campus. She has led fellow teammates to Christ and is currently a resident advisor on campus. Wanner is also a member of the athletic department’s SAAC committee and was part of the volleyball team’s missions trip to Costa Rica last August, sharing her testimony to teams and other individuals.
