WALHALLA — The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will host a blood drive on May 13 to raise money for a scholarship fund in honor of an Oconee County sheriff’s deputy who died in 2010.
The Schuck Memorial Blood Drive 2014 will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. May 13 in the gravel parking lot at the Oconee County Law Enforcement Center in Walhalla.
The blood drive will coincide with National Law Enforcement Appreciation Week, observed May 11 through May 17.
The AnMed Blood Mobile will be on hand and T-shirts will be sold the day of the event for $10 each while supplies last.
Deputy Bill Schuck died in the line of duty in the early morning hours of Feb. 7, 2010, after being pinned between his patrol vehicle and a tree on a dirt road off S.C. 11. Schuck worked for the Sheriff’s Office for two years and before that with the West Columbia Police Department for two years.
A scholarship named after Schuck will be presented at Walhalla High School on May 13.
