WALHALLA — The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Westminster residents last Friday afternoon on multiple charges in which a meth lab was also discovered.

Matthew Blake Sosby, 40, of 10163 Long Creek Highway, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 1:23 p.m. on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and simple possession of marijuana, all of which occurred at an address on Woodland Springs Drive in Mountain Rest.

Sosby also had two outstanding warrants, one for manufacturing meth from an incident that occurred at an address on Jack Pelfrey Road in Westminster on June 18 and also for a violation of his probation.

Also arrested was Erica Lea Richardson, 34, of 292 Cedar Lane Road. Richardson was also booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 3:30 p.m. July 18 on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine and for simple possession of marijuana.

Richardson also had two outstanding magistrate’s bench warrants.

An Oconee County Sheriff’s Office deputy received an anonymous tip that Sosby would be at an abandoned house off of Cassidy Bridge Road. Several deputies made their way to the Woodland Creek Road address where a motorcycle and a dirt bike were found in the back yard.

Deputies made contact with Sosby and Richardson at the abandoned residence where they were placed under arrest for the outstanding warrants.

Deputies found a small quantity of meth in Sosby’s pants pocket as well as some shake and bake style meth labs outside in the yard of the residence. Deputies also discovered two active meth labs in the back bedroom of the residence as well as items used to make meth and around 65 grams of marijuana leaves drying out on some old shoe boxes.

Narcotics agents of the Sheriff’s Office were notified as well.

Sosby was being held at the Oconee County Detention Center on a $136,500 total surety bond. Richardson was being held at the Detention Center on a $35,000 surety bond amount on the manufacturing meth charge. She was also issued a $1,500 personal recognizance bond on the marijuana possession charge.
