CLEMSON — Clemson Downs Retirement Community has hired a wellness director with broad experience in crafting personalized fitness plans geared toward engaging seniors with a best-in-class holistic approach.

Nikki Robinson will work to engage seniors with fitness regimens aimed at maximizing mobility, mental acuity and social interaction with other residents.

“We are thrilled to have Nikki joining our team with her thorough knowledge of working with older adults who want to remain active,” said Dr. John LeHeup, executive director for Clemson Downs. “She is skilled at designing fitness programs that improve the well being and independence of our residents. Her decade of experience has been fueled by a passion to build healthier habits.”

Along with crafting personalized fitness plans, Robinson will also design community-wide fitness programs with broad appeal for those looking to stay in shape while interacting with peers.

“Clemson Downs is no stranger to innovation, and I’m thrilled to have the chance to build upon the continuum of care offered here by infusing personalized fitness plans and overall healthy initiatives to improve the quality of life for the seniors I will have a pleasure to work with each day,” said Robinson.

Clemson Downs is undergoing a rapid expansion in its care offerings to meet the needs of the underserved Upstate market for a “purpose-built” memory care center. The new facility will open in March 2015, along with a private room skilled nursing facility. Since 1980, Clemson Downs has offered independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing options to the Upstate market.
