SUNSET — The Inspiring the American Dream Foundation is bringing its new Opportunity to Succeed program to A.R. Lewis Elementary School in Pickens, thanks to a $1,000 donation from two members of The Reserve at Lake Keowee.

The donation by Kevin Sexton and Barry Griffith of Sexton Griffith Custom Builders LLC to the Inspiring the American Dream Foundation will help fund the program’s goal of improving third grade reading proficiency, while instilling virtues such as courage, perseverance, humility and compassion.

Reserve members and residents volunteer at the school, help run a mentorship program, and maintain a welcome garden and habitat for learning on site that their community created with the school.

Inspiring the American Dream Foundation was established in December 2013 by Kathleen and Robert Basmadjian to inspire children and young adults to achieve the American Dream, a set of ideals in which freedom, ability and virtue provide the opportunity for prosperity, happiness and upward mobility, regardless of race, ethnicity or social class.

Contact Basmadjian at 908-884-5249 for more information.
