SAVANNAH, GA — A Clemson truck driver died Saturday after his pick-up truck collided with a minivan Saturday on I-95 in Georgia.

Michael Delph, 28, of Clemson, died after driving his truck the wrong way up the southbound lane of the interstate, said Julie Williams with the Georgia State Patrol, Post 42.

“He was traveling north in the southbound lane of the interstate,” Williams said. “He was traveling in the wrong direction.”

Delph’s pickup struck a Mazda MPV minivan driven by Michelle Carryl, 41 of Florida.

Delph, Carryl and two passengers in the minivan, Cyril Millington, 59, of Queens, N.Y. and Dwight Spencer, 19, of Florida were all pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, Williams said.

“Alcohol appears to be a factor,” she said.

Three children in Carryl’s van were transported by helicopter to Memorial Hospital in Savannah.

The Georgia State Patrol is still investigating the accident.
