David Lee Young beloved husband of Joyce Mary Kiely Young passed peacefully on October 10, 2009 at his home after a long battle with lung cancer in his 71st year. Loving father to Shelley Jo Wilson of Kansas and Paige Elizabeth Young of the home; devoted step father to Susan LaVolpe of Pickens, Linda Martin of Pennsylvania, Donna Whittaker of Pennsylvania, Steven Carroll of Central and Lori Hartwig of Greenville; grandfather to numerous grandchildren; great grandfather to Naomi Bentley; brother to Dan Downey, Mike Downey and Brenda Keith. He was born in Niagara, New York to the late Harvey Young and Margaret Cook Young. In addition to his parents he was preceded by a sister, Donna Beccerra.

Mr. Young was retired from International Boilermakers, having worked with Union 28 New Jersey as a mechanic and certified welder. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pickens and was a veteran of US Navy with eight years of service.

Funeral service 1:30 PM Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Visitation Tuesday, October 13, 2009 from 5 to 8 PM and Wednesday, October 14, 2009 from 3 to 5 PM at Dillard Funeral Home. Entombment in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville.
