James M. Baskerville, 52, of 114 Austin Woods Circle, Easley, was charged with murder in the death of Karla Benson. He was also charged with death or injury of a child in the death of her unborn child, as well as one count of possession with a weapon during a violent crime, according to arrest warrants.
Police arrested Baskerville last Thursday, taking him in to custody at the Roger C. Peace Hospital in Greenville.
He is being held at the Oconee County Detention Center, according to Seneca authorities.
Benson, 29, was found shot at Upstate Pain Management on U.S. 123 on June 20.
She had been shot twice, once in the shoulder, and once in the head, and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis.
Baskerville, a housekeeping employee at the business, also had a gunshot wound to the head, according to the incident report.
He was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Police treated the incident as a murder and attempted suicide.
Baskerville was not charged at the time while police waited on ballistic and forensic results, and because of his condition at the time.
A judge denied bond for Baskerville Monday in General Sessions Court, according to 10th Circuit Solicitor Chrissy Adams.
