BREMERTON, Wash. – With a 2-0 record in the U.S. West tournament, Northern California seems a lock for reaching the semi-finals. But mathematically, they could still face difficulty if they lose tonight’s game against Nevada.

Nevada comes in with a 1-1 record, having lost to Hawaii 10-0 on Monday. If Nevada wins tonight, there would be a three-way tie for first place in Pool B of the tournament. Northern California, which defeated Hawaii 5-3 and topped Oregon 18-0, would still seem to be a favorite to win in the tie-breaker system, but still, the chance for the team to be the “odd man out” would still be there, so the team would prefer to win tonight and clinch the top spot in the tournament.

If Northern California wins, the team would face Arizona in the semi-finals Thursday. Hawaii would face Southern California in the other semi-finals game.
