SIX MILE - Lee Smith Littlejohn, Jr. 86, passed away peacefully on Feb. 4, 2009, at his home in Six Mile.
Born in Greenville to Minnie Mae Brown and Lee S. Littlejohn Sr., he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Avanelle Holliday Littlejohn.
He was a World War II veteran, a 1942 graduate of Parker High School, and a 1952 graduate of Clemson College. He was a member of Six Mile Baptist Church. He loved his Lord, his family, and his country and was a wonderful Christian role model for his children.
Mr. Littlejohn was a retired teacher with the School District of Pickens County. Throughout his life, he loved the outdoors and spent many happy days in his garden, hunting, and fishing.
Mr. Littlejohn is survived by his daughter, Carol (Dan) Coke of Easley, sons Lee (Sharon) Littlejohn, and Mark (Cherie) Littlejohn of Six Mile. He is also survived by grandchildren: Tara (Danny) Coke McMullen, Paige Littlejohn, L.J. Littlejohn, Addie Littlejohn, Gracie Littlejohn, step-grandsons Jonathan Irvin and Will Irvin, and step-great granddaughter Lexi McMullen.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home, at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6. Visitation was from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., prior to the service. Burial was at Six Mile Baptist Church Cemetery.

Peggy Powell
PICKENS – Margaret Ann Peggy Powell, 63, wife of Kenneth D. Powell, of 2001 Fox Squirrel Ridge Road, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Powell was born in Jamaica, NY a daughter of Catherine McGonnell Beckett of Easley and the late Alois Beckett.
She was formerly a realtor with Century 21 in Easley and Pickens and later assisted her husband with their own trucking company until her illness. She was a Catholic.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two sons, John A. Dacey of Pickens and David P. Dacey of Knoxville, TN.
Graveside services will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13 at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens with the Rev.d C. Thomas Miles officiating.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10 at Dillard Funeral Home.

Jessie Kay Sears
SIX MILE - Jessie Kay Sears, 82, went home to be with Jesus and her loving husband Buck on Feb. 4, 2009.
Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Lucia Belle Fendley. She was a member of Carolina Community Church.
Jessie was a dedicated Christian. She was a loving mother and grandmother, with Ronnie, Carla, Drew, Bailey and Ali being the apples of her eye. She loved anyone she came in contact with.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law; Brenda and Barney Cannon of Six Mile, Wanda and Roy Harden of Seneca, Sharon and Jimmy Davis of Six Mile, grandchildren; Ronnie and Carla Cannon of Six Mile, Wesley and Trace Reid of Easley, Tina Stewart of Easley, and Darla Atkins of Pickens, Great Grandchildren; Drew, Bailey and Ali Cannon, Blake and Lee Anne Reid, a sister; Jean Davis of Pickens and a brother; Bill Fendley of Six Mile.
Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2009 at the funeral home.
