EASLEY- The city’s fire department was out in force on Saturday raising money for the Jeff Chavis House in its 8th annual Boot Drive.
The Jeff Chavis House offers free stays to family members of patients being treated at the Augusta Burn Center.
“Jeff was a 22–year- old firefighter out of Lexington County and was killed in the line of duty. His parents noticed people sleeping in their cars as they waited to see their family members in the hospital, so they got with the burn foundation and started this home that now has 53 beds and six family rooms,” said Easley firefighter, Shannon Dales.
According to Dales, the Fire Department in Liberty is joining in this year and is hoping to raise $10,000 collectively.
