Is it just me, or is the traffic in Easley getting worse by the day?

It seems as if it can take an hour to get from downtown to SC Highway 153, and as I make my way towards Powdersville, I am convinced that each and every resident belonging to the City of Easley is in their car driving 10 miles below the speed limit and blocking both lanes.

Perhaps, a large portion of Easley’s traffic issues can be attributed to the incredible growth the upstate has experienced over the last 25 years, and with the wide expanse of Greenville just a few miles down the road, a large spill over can be expected.

And as each day passes, with the great majority of my time trapped in the car somewhere on the roadways of Easley, I have had time to digest all that community growth has given us, a Wal-Mart, an Academy Sports, a long list of Bar and Grills, and an endless string of car lots, no doubt put in place to contribute more drivers into our already dire traffic problems.

Now I’m not saying that Easley, S.C. is impassable, but it is no place for the impatient or anyone susceptible to road rage, and between all of the automobiles for sale alongside the road and all of the ones travelling on it, Easley could serve as quite the formidable auto exposition.

During the Green Wave football season, Friday nights along Highway 123 can be rather smooth, but it would be nice to travel unimpeded through the streets of Easley more than one time of year.

Maybe Coach Smith would consider extending the Easley Football season year round to give the rest of us a break, or maybe the car dealers that span highway 123 would close their doors for a while.

Whatever the case, the roads of Easley and the thousands of residents that travel on them everyday are in need of a seamless journey, after all, it shouldn’t take an hour to travel three miles, should it?
