PICKENS — Following a string of auto break-ins and a week of investigation, the Pickens Police Department have captured two suspects.
“The two males charged are Steven Reece, 20, of Pickens Gardens Apartments, and Jessie Bridges, 21, of 219 Wolf Creek School Road,” said Travis Riggs, assistant chief of police.
The two men were apprehended by the Pickens Police Department’s Officer of the Year, Det. Samuel Byers.
“The Pickens Police Department is pleased to solve these cases and get justice for our citizens,” Riggs said.
The auto-break-ins affected both the city and county of Pickens with the city totaling 22 break-ins including two daytime incidents.
Officials said prior to the arrests that thieves were taking a wide variety of items largely from vehicles which were left unlocked. They warned local residents to lock their vehicles and not expect that parking in the personal driveways made them safe from thefts.
