PICKENS COUNTY—The Easley Farmers Market has returned with even more to offer in 2013.
Market Manager Lisa Garrett said she is getting excited for another season beginning this Saturday.
“We have a lot of our regular customers that come every week,” said Garrett. “We want to encourage people to buy local, know where their food comes from, and know how it’s grown. We want people to know their farmer, come talk to them, and learn how they grow their food.”
The market will be offering fresh produce, fruits, breads, honey, desserts, hot sauces, jams, jellies, salsas, eggs, shrimp, smoothies, plants, flowers, dog treats, corn hole games, a variety of craft vendors will also be on hand, entertainment and activities for children.
The farmers market will include a Tuesday evening market this year. The Tuesday event will run from June 4 to August 27 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Garrett says new customers are constantly dropping by.
“We have people every week come and say ‘This is our first time here. We didn’t know you were here,’” said Garrett. “Each week it seems like we get more and more people.”
While the focus has been on getting ready for a new year, Garrett says she hopes the grand opening provides a successful season at the farmers market.
“We’ve have more vendors this year and it has been really great in the past,” said Garrett. “It’s been really exciting.”
Different seasons have managed to bring in different customers in the past, and Garrett says the market will host a variety of activities depending on the week.
“People come based on the season and we always have a good turnover,” said Garrett. “Something is always new at the market.”
The Easley Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the parking lot of Easley City Hall. The market is open from April to October. For more information, contact Garrett at 864-855-7900 Ext. 7200.
