4th Annual Wings and Wheels Event Saturday

Pickens County Meals on Wheels announces the 4th Annual Wings and Wheels for Meals.

The event will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pickens County Airport in Liberty. This event has a track record as a proven community favorite, and this year promises to be another day of fun for the entire family. Attractions will include:

Airplane and Helicopter Rides- Fixed wing aircraft and helicopter will be on hand to offering event-goers a bird’s eye view of Pickens County. In addition, an open cockpit, bi-wing Steerman will be available for those seeking an aviation experience akin to early years of aviation.

Custom and Classic Car Show- Join over 150 car owners for one of the best classic and custom car shows in the Upstate. Winners will receive a trophy. “Best in Show” will be a judged event, and the “People’s Choice” award will be given to the car that receives the most cash votes.

Between admiring cars and airplane rides, spectators can enjoy: lunch or snack from Bates Masonic Lodge and Yoder’s of Meece Mill; a display of radio-controlled aircraft by the Raptors RC (radio controlled) Club; and the chance to win exciting giveaway items.

Amateur photographers are invited to help document the event and are encouraged to enter their photos in the “BEST PHOTO CONTEST”. Winning is simple, take a picture(s) at the event and upload your best picture(s) to the PCMOW Facebook Page. Invite others to “like” your picture(s). The picture on the PCMOW Facebook page with the most “likes”, wins! Winner will receive a $25 cash prize.

All proceeds from the 4th Annual Wings and Wheels for Meals will benefit Pickens County Meals on Wheels, a 501 (c)(3), a non-profit, charitable organization funded completely through grants and donations from individuals, churches, church organizations, businesses, civic groups, and the United Way. The organizations does not seek or receive any state or federal funding and relies entirely on the generosity of the community they serve.

Support will help Meals on Wheels carry out its mission of caring for homebound elderly and disabled individuals, providing them with a nutritious meal, a friendly visit and a safety-check that helps them remain independent and in their own homes.
