Medical Center Powdersville construction progressing

Baptist Easley Hospital officials are expecting to occupy the Medical Center of Powdersville in February. Construction has been underway since January. An MD360 Convenient Care will anchor the Medical Center Powdersville, providing walk-in and urgent care services seven days a week in partnership with the Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center, said Allison Greene, Baptist Easley public information officer.

In addition, the 32,500-square foot complex will include a full-time office of Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas and Proaxis Therapy, providing a full array of orthopaedic and physical therapy services. The GHS University Medical Group Department of Surgery will house surgical specialists there as well.

Diagnostic x-ray and laboratory services will be on site, as well as a 16-slice CT scanner, with additional shell space for future diagnostic equipment. The Baptist Easley Sleep Lab will be re-located to Medical Center Powdersville. The complex will house a community room to host health education events and provide much-needed space for use by others in the Powdersville community.

The construction schedule of Triangle Construction Company of Greenville projects the building will be substantially complete in early January, said the project’s coordinator, Paul Cook. “That is several weeks early in comparison to the contract requirements and will allow us to open for business in early February,” he said.

“Construction has progressed smoothly with very few unforeseen issues. As a result, we anticipate completion within our project budget. All structural work is complete, some major equipment has been installed, and the building’s exterior skin will be finished in a few weeks,” said Cook.

Most of the interior partitions are also in place.

“We expect to start paving and landscaping later this month. We are excited about getting the facility open for patients. This project will be a landmark structure housing valuable services not currently available in the Powdersville area,” said Cook.
