EASLEY—Local sports enthusiasts will soon be trying their luck with a first year program at the Easley Recreation Department.
Easley Rec is now accepting registrations for Lacrosse, which will begin this summer.
Athletic Director John Williams said there is already some interest sparking in the community.
“There seem to be some people that are interested. I don’t know how many kids we’ll end up with for the first go-around, but that’s just like any other sport,” William said. “When we started flag football we had very few sign up, but it grew from there. You have to start somewhere.”
“Our City Manager suggested that we try a Lacrosse program so that’s what we decided to do,” Williams said. “We’ve already seen some response.”
Registration began on March 7 and will last through April 7.
“We’ve got registration going on through April 7,” Williams said. “The program will run from June to July.”
Williams said all are welcome to join.
“Lacrosse is a sport where anybody can play,” Williams said. “You don’t have to be fast, you don’t have to be big, you don’t have to be the world’s greatest athlete to play Lacrosse. This should be able to reach a whole new spectrum of kids.
