EASLEY – Troy McGowens, guard for the Easley High School basketball team, recently participated in the North/South High School All-Star game in Lexington.

“We won 101 to 100,” McGowens said. “It was a lot of fast paced moving like AAU ball, and it was great to relive some AAU ball since I am now a senior and cannot play it again. It was fun and it was really nice to meet people that can run and play just as good as I can. It was a great honor.”

Throughout his high school career at Easley, McGowens compiled more than 1,000 points and over 500 assists.

“That was a special goal that coach Stallard set at the beginning of the season,” McGowens said. “It is a great honor to have those records.”

Head basketball coach, Grant Stallard, talked about McGowens career at Easley High School and his role in the North/South All-Star game.

“I think it is a climax to a great career and I think it is something that he definitely earned,” Stallard said. “He went 82 and 25 in four years and that is a great career with over 1,000 points and 500 assists. To have it end with this all-star game is a great way to go out.”

Chris Carter, the school’s athletic director, expressed his admiration for McGowens.

“Very rarely in high school sports is the kid that has the most ability also the kid that works the hardest and has the best attitude,” Carter said. “In Troy, he is the complete package.

McGowens is a three sport star at Easley High School participating in track, basketball, and football, and has signed a letter of intent to play football at Charleston Southern University.
