The “Welcome to Powdersville” sign unveiling ceremony was held on Thursday, March 28 at the corner of Hwy. 153 and Hwy 81. “The Powdersville Business Council is very happy today,” said Cindy Hopkins, president of the Easley Chamber of Commerce. “The sign has been under development since the fall of 2011 and it has been a long effort through fund raising. The total cost of the sign was approximately $4,000.” U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan (R), Laurens, spoke to the large crowd attending the unveiling ceremony. Francis Crowder of the Anderson County Council, Interim County Administrator Rusty Burns, and Sean Thornton of the Easley Chamber of Commerce also spoke at the ceremony.
