Two dead, one in critical condition after Dacusville shooting

PICKENS COUNTY—Police say two are dead and one remains in life-threatening condition after a shooting early Tuesday morning in Dacusville.

Pickens County Sheriff’s Office officials say the three gunshot victims were found after police responded to a wreck shortly after 6 a.m.

A press conference will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday to provide more details.

“A little bit after 6 a.m. (Tuesday) morning there was a report of a car accident on Cherokee Trail,” Hashe said. “The fire department and EMS came out and located a pickup truck on the side of the road. It was the only vehicle involved in the accident.”

“The vehicle was registered to the people who live at 307 Cherokee Trail,” Hashe continued. “The deputies came to the house to follow up on the traffic accident, at which time they learned of a shooting.”

Hashe said two residents were found dead inside their own home.

“They located two victims that were deceased at the scene,” Hashe said. “There was another person who had wounds consistent with gunshots. That person was transported to the hospital where they are in critical/life threatening condition.”

Hashe said the person involved in the wreck was transported to the hospital.

“We do believe that the person who shot these people is one of the two (currently) in the hospital,” Hashe said.

Hashe said the crash was about 300 yards from the house.

The incident remains under investigation.

“We’re still at the scene and we’re still processing the information,” Hashe said. “We feel as if this is an isolated incident. All four of these individuals lived at the home.”

Check back for a followup story at about 5 p.m. following the press conference.
