Greenwave Hall of Fame inductees

The following are inductees to the 2012 Easley Green Wave Athletic Hall of Fame.

This year’s induction will be at the New School’s Location, 154 Greenwave Boulevard, Easley. The ceremony is on Friday, Oct. 26 at the new stadium at half time. Former Hall of Fame inductees are welcome to come to the induction dinner at 5:45 p.m. in cafeteria.

Season Brotherton Mauger

A 1997 Graduate of Easley High School, Season was an outstanding basketball player for the Green Wave. She was a member of the Region I AAAA All Region Team during her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons while being recognized as a member of the All State Team by the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association during her senior year. During her freshman year, Season was named the recipient of the Hustle Award for the Green Wave as well as being named Honorable Mention All Area by the Easley Progress. The Easley Progress also named her to the All Area Team during her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons with being named the Progress Player of the Year her senior season. Season was also named Most Valuable Player for the Green Wave during sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. A career total of 1083 points and 823 rebounds highlight her career as a Green Wave.

Season graduated from Clemson University in 2001 with B.S. in Microbiology. She currently resides in Kingsport, TN and is employed with Ortec, Inc. She is married to George Castle Mauger, III and they have one son. Her community activities have included being a member of the Board of Directors of the Brotherton Foundation as well as being involved with the Pickens County Meals on Wheels, Mary’s House of Easley, Career Center of Greenville, and Miracle Hill Boys Shelter.

Barry Dean Duncan

A 1976 Graduate of Easley High School, Barry was a member of the Green Wave football, basketball, and baseball teams. He was a starter and lettered in football during the 1973, 1974, and 1975 seasons while being a co-captain in 1975 and was selected for the Sportsmanship Award that same season. Barry also played and lettered for the Green Wave basketball team during the 1974-75 season. He also was a starter and lettered in baseball during the 1975 and the 1976 seasons while being a co-captain for the 1976 AAAA State Championship Baseball Team. Barry also played baseball for the Easley Post 52 American Legion Baseball Team.

Barry continued his baseball career at Erskine College where he started for all four years there. In 1980, he was the Team Captain along with being named the Team Most Valuable Player. Barry was also name to the NAIA All District, NAIA All Area, and NAIA All American Honorable Mention Teams as well as being selected to the South Carolina Collegiate All State Team. A 1980 Graduate of Erskine College with a B.S. in Business Management, he is married to the former Rosemary Finley of Easley and they have 3 children, Jorden, Anna, and Bryant.

Robert Michael (Mike) Owen

A 1968 Graduate of Easley High School, Mike played football, basketball, and baseball along with being a member of the track team, making him a four sport letterman. A member of the 1967 AA State Championship Football Team, he scored 18 touchdowns while carrying the ball an average of 7 times a game his senior season. A three-year letterman, he was an All Conference Running Back. Mike was also a member of the 1968 AA Upper State Championship Basketball Team averaging 10 points a game. As a member of the track team in high school, Mike competed in the 100-yard dash, the 220-yard dash, the 4 X 100 relay team, and the broad jump. He qualified to the state meet in 1968 in the 100-yard dash and the broad jump. Running a 9.8 second 100-yard dash, Mike finished second earning a silver medal and establishing a school record that still holds today.

Following high school, Mike attended Clemson University where he started for the Freshman Football Team at cornerback. He also played football for the U.S. Navy in Guam and was selected to play in the Rice Bowl in Japan.

Mike is married to the former Donna Martin of Easley and they have two adult sons, Nicholas and Jeremy.

Cornelia Michelle Robinson

A 1989 Graduate of Easley High School, Michelle not only was a member of several teams but also became one of the most loyal supporters of Easley High School and Green Wave Athletics. Along with being a member of the volleyball and basketball teams at Easley Junior High School, Michelle participated on the Easley High Cross Country Team and lettered in track at Easley High School in 1983, 1984, and 1985 while competing in the relays in the state finals as a 7th grader. During her three years of track she participated at different times in the following events: shot put, long jump, triple jump, 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, the 4 X 100 relay team, and the 4 X 400 relay team. She was also a member of the varsity basketball team as a 9th grader during the 1984-85 season.

During the summer of 1985, Michelle was diagnosed with “Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.” During her remaining years of high school prior to graduation, Michelle was an honorary member of the volleyball, basketball, and track teams.

Michelle received an Associated Degree from North Greenville College and in 1998 received her Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Journalism from North Greenville. Each year, Easley High Athletics selects an individual to receive the Michelle Robinson Scholarship presented by Dr. Jeffery Lawson in honor of Michelle for her determined spirit and never say “can’t” attitude.

Anthony Terrell Robinson

A 1990 Graduate of Easley High School, Tony was a member of the basketball and baseball teams. He lettered three years for the basketball team and was selected All Conference during his junior and senior seasons along with being named All State his senior year. Tony was also selected to the North-South All Star Basketball Game sponsored by the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association and the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association. Tony was also a three-year letterman with the Green Wave Baseball team and was a member of the 1988 AAAA Upper State Championship Team.

Following high school, Tony attended Erskine College and graduated in 1994. He currently in Missouri and is employed in the corporate head office with Monsanto. He has one daughter and continues to be involved in competitive softball and loves to travel.

James Gregory (Greg) Spearman

A 1987 Graduate of Easley High School, Greg was a four-year letterman for the Green Wave. In 1987, he was selected as the Co-MVP for the Green Wave while being named an All Region Pitcher. He was also selected to the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association North-South All Star Game where he was the starting 3rd baseman following his senior season. Greg also played for Easley Post 52 American Legion Team for 4 seasons and was the 1986 American Legion state batting champion along with receiving the Best Offense Award. In 1987, Greg received the Best Offense, Best Pitcher, Most Valuable Player and Captain’s Award.

Following high school, Greg continued his baseball career at Spartanburg Methodist College and then USC-Aiken starting all four years. He was a part of USC-Aiken’s World Series team. Currently residing in Easley, Greg is the owner of Progressive Services Carpet Cleaning.
