EASLEY—Hannah Hopkins may be wrapping up her high school career, but some believe her best tennis still lies ahead.

The Easley High senior signed to play tennis for Limestone College recently, and Skip Smith, who coached Hopkins for her fist three years in high school, said Limestone will be getting an outstanding athlete.

“She is an incredible athlete,” Smith said. “The most exciting part is that her best tennis is yet to come. Limestone is fortunate to have her.”

Hopkins was a three-time, All-Region athlete. Her high school record was 60 wins and 2 losses. Hopkins has won more than 15 USTA tournaments.

Smith said she will be an excellent addition to Limestone’s program.

“She is such terrific person and a person that is going to be such a great attribute to Limestone College,” Smith said. “She will be a great addition to that tennis team. She is extremely hard working and puts everything in to what she is doing. She would be a top player in any sport she chose to play. She plays smart and aggressive, and she’s just a terrific player.”

Unlike many of her other competitors, Smith said Hopkins picked up tennis later in her athletic career. This leads Smith to believe she still has so much more to accomplish.

“Hannah picked up the game quickly and that speaks volumes to her athletic ability,” Smith said. “She really needs to play at the next level just to see how good she can become. I think she will become an incredibly strong tennis player.”
