PICKENS COUNTY – Lt. Drew Sisco of the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office feels that he was called into a career in uniform.
“During my freshman year of college I had been praying,” Sisco said. “I felt like I was studying business just to take it and I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with it so I prayed to see what God wanted me to do. I felt that law enforcement was an option for me.”
Sisco said that he realized his calling after stopping at two empty intersections and seeing a police car at each one.
“I was driving down the road and came to the first stoplight and a police car went by,” Sisco said. “I found this strange because there were no other cars. As I drove further down the road and came to another stoplight, a second police car drove by so I felt like that’s what God wanted me to do.”
Sisco was born in Lansing, Mich. but moved to Pickens County as a child.
“My parents accepted a job offer down here when I was ten,” Sisco said. “We packed our stuff and left our family and came to Pickens County and we have been here ever since.”
Sisco is a 2002 graduate of Daniel High School where he played on both the soccer and baseball teams.
Following high school, Sisco received a soccer scholarship from Southern Wesleyan University but transferred to Tri-County Technical College to earn a degree in Criminal Justice.
“I went to Tri-County to pursue the calling that Christ laid on my heart,” Sisco said. “I received my Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice there and it has truly helped my career.”
Sisco’s career in law enforcement began in January of 2005 for the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.
“I started my career in the detention center,”Sisco said. “I spent four months there before I was transferred to the road patrol. I was on the road for over two years until I took a position as desk officer and over Victim’s Advocate. After one year, I took a sergeant’s position in the jail on the night shift for about two years, and I then took this position as lieutenant over the jail.”
Sisco is a 2005 graduate of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, a specific skills instructor, and oversees all training for the sheriff’s office.
Sisco is a married father of three.
