Pickens girls go for fourth straight volleyball crown

Pickens High School will be well-represented this weekend as cross country and volleyball seasons move into the state championship phase.

The Pickens Lady Blue Flame will play for the state championship on Satulrday at 4 p.m. at Dutch Fork High School after beating Eastside (25-23, 26-24, 18-25, 25-22) on Wednesday at Eastside for the Upperstate Championship.

It wsa the fourth consecutive Upperstate title for the Lady Blue Flame and, if they win Saturday, it would be their fourth straight state Class AAA championship and seventh in the past eight season.

Meanwhile, the Pickens boys' and girls' cross country teams, along with Daniel's boys and girls, will compete in the state meet at the Sandhills Research Park course north of Columbia Saturday morning.
