What do you get when you mix pancakes, a festival and a quilt? A new AED, Automatic Electronic Dephibulator and other rescue equipment the Pumpkintown Fire Department is in need of.
Well, not really but this is how the Department hopes this works.
A portion of the proceeds from this years Pumpkin Festival went to the department for new equipment. Now the firemen and the community hope pancakes and a quilt will combine to help them reach the rest of their goal.
“This new equipment will help us serve the community better by giving a more modern first response for life safety” said David James, fire chief for Pumpkintown Fire department.
The pancake breakfast will be held December 1 at the fire department located at 4205 Pumpkintown Highway. Plates will be served from 7am till 11am and will consist of 2 pancakes, your choice of meats and a drink for $4.25.
The department is also holding a raffle for a handmade quilt. This quilt was made especially for them and donated by Beth Boyd and family.
Tickets are $2 each and may be purchased at Pumpkintown Quilts & Crafts, TLC’s Health & Special Occasions both of which are located in the Pumpkintown Restaurant and Opera House on Highway 11, at The Sentinel office at 109 West Main Street in Pickens or Iron Man Jeep Parts on Midway Road in Pickens. Tickets may also be purchased at the departments’ annual meeting held on Monday nights from 6:30pm till 9pm at the fire department. Drawing will be held on December 21.
