SIX MILE - Six Mile Town Council members unanimously passed their Fiscal Year 2008-2009 budget on first reading earlier this month.

The $259,156 budget does not raise taxes.

"Balanced (with) no tax increase," said Mayor John Wade.

The budget devotes $4,000 for next month's Issaqueena Festival, $2,100 to the town's Christmas Parade and a $6,000 allocation to the Six Mile Rec.

Income sources include an expected $75,300 in property taxes, $15,000 in local business licenses and a combined $26,250 in franchise fees.

Second reading of the budget will take place during the May 6 Town Council meeting.

Six Mile Town Council meets at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of every month in the Six Mile Town Hall building.
