GREENVILLE - A Pickens man succumbed Thursday to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident Tuesday evening.

Doug Lanning, 47, was pronounced dead at 2:10 p.m. Thursday at Greenville Memorial Hospital, said Pickens County Coroner Dr. Jim Mahanes.

After turning from Rice Road onto S.C. 8, Lanning's 1997 Harley Davidson collided with a 2003 Chevy van driven by Kyle David Fell of Easley, as Fell was pulling out of a private driveway, said Lance Cpl. Kathy Hiles with the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Lanning was not wearing a helmet, Hiles said.

Fell was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the collision.

Lanning was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital where he died Thursday, Hiles said.

The Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.

Funeral services were scheduled for Sunday at the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home, with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
