CLEMSON - Appalachian author Ron Rash will appear at a book signing at Clemson University's Cooper Library.
The signing, sponsored by the Clemson Libraries and the University Bookstore, will be held from 4:15 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. Tuesday August 19.
The event, which is open to the public, offers Clemson students an opportunity to meet Rash, whose work often dealings with the people and issues of the Carolinas, said Ed Rock, Languages and General Education Librarian.
"Our freshman class is reading Ron Rash's 'One Foot in Eden,'" he said. "His first books got a lot of critical notice and acclaim."
The signing coincides with a new exhibit at Cooper Library designed to introduce freshman students to the resources available to them at the library.
"It focuses on how the library's print and digital collections can enhance the reading of 'One Foot in Eden,'" Rock said. "There's just a wealth of reading available."
Students can use the library's historical documents, maps, music and other resources to gain a better understanding of the Appalachian region and also "develop life-long information seeking skills."
Rash's other work, which will be available for purchase at the signing, includes the novels "Saints at the River" and "The World Made Straight," the short story collections "Casualities" and "Chemistry and Other Stories."
Rash's latest novel "Serena" is scheduled to be released in October.
