EASLEY - An Easley man died Thursday morning after a single car accident.

Investigators pronounced Larry Nathan Lesley, 68, of 143 Vinland School Road after the accident which occurred at 1:45 a.m., according to Pickens County Chief Deputy Coroner Kandy Kelley.

Lesley was traveling north on Vinland School Road, eight miles north of Easley, when his 2003 Toyota Camry left the right side of the road, said Lance Cpl. Jeff Gaskin with the SC Highway Patrol.

Lesley overcorrected, then went off the side of the road, where his vehicle struck some trees and burst into flames, Gaskin said.

The car burned completely, he said.

Lesley died from thermal burns and smoke inhalation, Kelley said.

Because of the severity of the burns, it is unknown if Lesley was wearing a seatbelt.

The Highway Patrol is still investigating.
