“Over the last several years, we have seen an increase in the number of people who live outside Pickens County that use our recycling stations,” said Lou Holder, Recycling Director. She added “This step will ensure that the centers are used only by individuals who live within Pickens County.”
Pickens County Administrator Chap Hurst says the measure will save taxpayer dollars. “We are very fortunate to have very strong recycling and waste disposal programs here in Pickens County.” He added “Pickens County taxpayer dollars fund the programs and the decal system is one way to make certain that the citizens of Pickens County fully benefit. This will also save money by refusing to dispose of waste from surrounding counties.”
The free decals may be picked up from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the following area recycling centers during September and October:
September 3 Easley 2053 Old Liberty Road
September 10 Bes Pac 2630 Farrs Bridge Road
September 17 Willow Springs 127 Willow Springs Road
September 24 N. Old Pendleton 205 Anton Drive
October 1 Chastain Road 600 Chastain Road
October 8 Dacusville 190 Raxter Road
October 15 Table Rock Back Park Road
October 22 Midway Highway 178
Vehicle registrations will need to be shown to validate county residency.
Households requiring decals for multiple vehicles will also be able to pick them up during these times. After November 1, decals will also be available in the Pickens County Auditor’s Office located at 222 McDaniel Avenue in Pickens.
