Filing closes for Pickens City Council seat

Patti Welborn, Joe Davis, Robert Johnson and Patrick Lark are running for the seat vacated by Pat Welborn, who left the position to become Clerk of Court.
Whoever wins will fulfill Welborn’s unexpired term, which runs through November 2011.
A special election will take place on March 31, and the winner will take the oath of office as soon as the results are certified, according to Rodney Allen, director of Pickens County Elections and Registration.
If necessary, a runoff will take place April 14.
