Wesley Vance Sexton, 37, is being charged with driving under suspension and failure to stop for police blue lights after leading multiple law enforcement agencies on a high-speed pursuit through Pickens County, Major Tim Tollison, with the Easley Police Department, said.
Teresa Pridemore Collier, a passenger in the vehicle, is being charged with participating in a criminal offense, Tollison said.
The police pursuit of the vehicle begin in Easley, on Ross Avenue at 9:37 a.m., he said.
The suspects were taken into custody at U.S. 178 and Holly Springs Road, in Pickens, just after 11 a.m., he said.
Deputies with the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Pickens Police Department assisted in the pursuit of the vehicle and the following arrest, he said.
At one point, Pickens police officers used law enforcement spike-sticks, throwing them in the path of the vehicle, to end the pursuit, but that equipment flattened one tire, allowing the suspect to continue driving, he said.
Additional charges may be levied by the sheriff’s office, Tollision said.
The incident continues to be under investigation, he said.
