PICKENS COUNTY—A Pickens County woman was recently apprehended in Ohio in connection with charges from a fatal DUI crash that occurred in March 2011 in Pickens County.
Julie Mason was scheduled to appear in a Pickens County Coourt in April, but did not show, forcing local authorities to issue a bench warrant for her arrest.
The wreck, which occurred on Pumpkintown highway on March 4, 2011, caused the death 36-year-old Department of Social Services worker Chrystal Harrison, and 10-year old Raven Stancell.
Authorities charged Mason with two counts of driving under the influence resulting in injury, and two counts of driving under the influence resulting in death.
She was arrested in Ohio on Monday.
“The way the process works, if she does not agree to come back, we have to petition the Governor of South Carolina to petition the Governor of Ohio to allow us to come get here before we can forcibly take her from that state,” said Pickens County Assistant Sheriff Tim Morgan.
