PICKENS COUNTY—An Easley boy scout was among 10 passengers transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital after a van overturned on Friday night.

According to Lance Corporal Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, 19-year old Zachary Gentry of Greenwood, was driving with a group of nine passengers and swerved off Callahan Mountain Road at around 9:30 p.m. Friday.

The other nine people in the van ranged from ages 14 to 16, but their names will not be released due to their minor status. All 10 were transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital.

According to Mike Butler, Scout Executive with the Blue Ridge Council Boys of America, one of the nine children injured in the accident was an Easley boy scout. He is expected to be OK.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, and no charges have been filed.
