On Saturday, August 11, 2012 at approximately 12:18 a.m., The City Of Easley Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire located at 125 Foster Avenue in the Easley Fire District.

The first arriving unit reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof of the home. Two Engine companies and a service company responded to the incident. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes. Crews remained on the scene for 2 hours conducting salvage and overhaul operations.

There were working smoke detectors in the home. The home owner was at the home when the fire started. The home sustained heavy fire damage to the attic area and smoke damage throughout the rest of the home. No injuries occurred to the occupants or Firefighters as a result of the fire.

Other agencies responding included Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, Easley Police Department, and Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.

The cause of the fire appeared to have been started by a lightning strike due to a thunder storm in the area. The fire has been ruled accidental.
