EASLEY—Easley Police arrested a Gettys Middle School teacher and a School District of Pickens County employee charging them with selling marijuana in a home on Roper Street last week.
Kimberly Dawn Anthony, 43, and Daniel John Fahey, 48, were apprehended after police served a search warrant at the residence Friday.
Anthony is a business education teacher at Gettys Middle School, and Fahey is a school to work facilitator with the district office.
According to arrest reports, Anthony is charged with two counts of distribution of marijuana, two counts of distribution of marijuana within proximity to a school, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana within proximity to a school, two counts of distribution of a controlled substance, and distribution of a controlled substance within proximity to a school.
Incident reports also stated that Fahey is charged with distribution of a controlled substance, distribution within proximity to a school, distribution of a controlled substance near a school, possession with intent to distribute marijuana near a school, and two counts of distribution of marijuana.
School district of Pickens County Public Information Specialist John Eby says that after conversations with the police department, authorities do not believe that any drugs were sold to students.
“In light of the arrest of two district employees, we understand that there is concern about whether controlled substances were distributed to our students. Easley Police investigators have informed the school district that they have no evidence of controlled substances being given to students in this case,” said Eby. “We are going to be double checking to make sure.”
Both suspects are being held in custody pending bond. Anthony’s bond is set at $250,000, and Fahey’s bond is set at $150,000.
Eby says the two employees have not been terminated at this point.
“At this point, both employees are under suspension,” said Eby. “We were notified Friday night shortly after the arrest, and both were suspended.”
