71-year old Inez Pearson of Greenville crashed her 2001 Honda four-door Tuesday morning in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The wreck occurred at 10:30 a.m. on SC Highway 8/Gentry Memorial Highway east of Pickens. Pearson was injured and taken to a hospital. She was wearing a seat belt, and was not ejected or entrapped. “(Pearson) was traveling east on SC 8 and ran off the right side of the road striking a guide wire, causing the utility pole to break,” said Lance Cpl. Bill Rhyne of the Highway Patrol. “She continued on traveling into a cemetery, causing damage to multiple tombstones, some shrubs, and a bench.” Pearson was not charged as of Wednesday morning.
